Pleasant Hill Survival Skills Weekend

Wednesday, July 23
10am-3pm Outdoor Adventure Day Camp (ages 11-14) – Explore the world of thrilling adventures with kayaking, nature hikes, survival skills, campfire building and cooking, and archery. Registration required at www.mwcd.org/tickets
Friday, July 25
4-5pm Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to learn how Nature in Ohio Survives.
5-7pm Traveling Program Golf Cart – Watch for the traveling program golf cart with weekend schedules.
8-9pm Stargazing – Stop by the Welcome Center deck to use a park telescope and get a closer look at the stars.
Saturday, July 26 Survival Skills Weekend
All Day Nature Hike – Use the new OuterSpatial trails app to take a self-guided nature hike. Learn more about the app and how to download at www.MWCD.org/OuterSpatial
9-10am Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to learn how nature in Ohio survives.
11am-12pm Shelter Building – Head to Picnic Shelter #2 to turn a tarp into a survival shelter. Shelter from the elements is vital for survival. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
1-2pm Survival Bracelets – Make your own paracord bracelet in the Welcome Center. These bracelets are designed to unravel when an emergency calls for rope. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
3:30-4:30pm LIVE Bird Show – Learn about Ohio’s birds and their special survival adaptations at the Welcome Center. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
5-6pm Cast Iron Cooking – Bring a can of vegetables and help us stir as we make a beef and vegetable stew over the fire by the Welcome Center. All who donate or help get a bowl of stew. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
7-8pm Campfire and Karaoke – Join us at the fire by the welcome center for Karaoke and a sweet treat (while supplies last). All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
Sunday, July 27
1-4pm Poker Paddle – Paddle around the lake to collect poker chips and compete for the best and worst poker hands. Grand prize is a KAYAK! Registration required at www.mwcd.org/tickets
