July 16 - July 21

Thursday, July 16
7-8pm Campfire Chronicles Book Club – Discuss Beach Read by Emily Hentry, make a bead bookmark, and enjoy a campfire snack. All are welcome — whether you’ve finished the book, just started, or simply want to enjoy the atmosphere and conversation! Meet at the campfire ring near the Welcome Center.
Friday, July 17
4-5:30pm Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to learn about survival instincts.
6-8pm Traveling Golf Cart – Look for the program golf cart as it drives through the campground and passes out schedules.
9-10:30pm Stargazing – Meet at the top of beach hill to use binoculars and telescopes to view the night sky!
Saturday, July 18 Survival Skills Weekend
9-10am Fishing for Kids – Go fishing at the beach fishing pier! Park staff will provide bait and fishing poles. All kids need an adult supervisor. For kids aged 15 and under.
11am-12pm Compass Challenge – Learn compass skills and about orienteering. Complete the course to win a prize. Meet at the Welcome Center deck.
1-2pm Campfire Building – Discover the basics of campfire building then try your hand at starting a fire. Children must have adult helper. Meet at the campfire ring near the Welcome Center.
3-4pm Paracord Bracelet – Create a chain of rope to carry with you in case of emergencies. Adults are asked to assist their youth in the welcome center.
5-6pm Firestarter Workshop – Make a firestarter at the Welcome Center. Children require an adult helper.
7-8pm Smore’s Trail Mix & Karaoke – Belt out your karaoke favorites and enjoy trail mix at the Welcome Center.
Tuesday, July 21
10am-3pm Archery & Adventure Camp – This camp is for kids age 8-12 to explore the world of thrilling adventures in archery, fire building, and fishing. Registration required at www.mwcd.org/tickets
