Hunting in Ohio's MWCD
Outdoor recreation thrives in the rural setting behind the dams of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) reservoirs, which offer flood reduction and water conservation. The MWCD owns 57,000 acres of land and water in the Muskingum River Watershed, most of which is open to public access. One popular activity is hunting. In the interest of safety, hunting on MWCD land is prohibited within 500 feet of "Restricted Use" area, buildings and public roads. Printable MWCD Maps with restricted use areas can be found below.
Through a memorandum of understanding with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' (ODNR), ODNR is responsible for all fish and wildlife management on Conservancy District lands and lakes. All hunting and fishing rules, regulations and license requirements of the State of Ohio apply. Annual reports about wildlife activities at the reservoirs are provided to the MWCD by the Division of Wildlife.
ODNR Hunting Rules and Regulations
In addition to an Online Interactive Map, there are downloadable maps below that represent property owned by MWCD available for hunting. They are for informational purposes only and hunters are advised to comply with signage showing restricted use areas in the field. ODNR Hunting Rules and Regulations apply.
