Please park towards the back. \n  \nSaturday\, June 1                 Paws in the Park \n10am-2pm     Tappan Dam Tours – Join the US Army Corps of Engineers for a tour of Tappan Dam! Learn about the history\, plus dam safety as a part of Dam Safety Awareness Day. Tours take approximately 20 minutes\, stop by anytime between 10am and 2pm. \n9-10am         Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Center to learn about amazing coyotes! \n10-11am         Meeting with the Chief – Meet the new Chief of Recreation at the Activity Center to learn about park amenities and future projects. \n2-3pm          Fabulous Fox – Discover Ohio’s fox and make your own fox ears at the Nature Center. \n3-4pm          Pet Print Art for All Ages – Bring your pet to the patio behind the nature center to make a uniquely painted masterpiece. \n4-5pm          Pack Hike – Take a guided hike with your dog to explore the Deer Trail! Meet at the boat ramp near Camp Area 1. Dogs must be friendly to people and other dogs\, on a leash\, and cleaned up after. \n5-6pm          Adult BINGO – Try your luck at BINGO at the Activity Center. Bring a $2 gift. \n7-8pm           Hot Dot Swim – Bring your dog to the beach and to cool off in the water! The swim beach will be closed to people. Meet at the Nature Center. For ages 16 and up. \n  \nSaturday\, May 25 \n10am         Flag Ceremony – Join Cadiz American Legion to honor military personnel who have died while fighting in a war. Ceremony will take place in Camp Area 4. \n11am-1pm  Nature Center Open – Make a red\, white\, and blue windsock! Meet at the Nature Center. \n1-2pm        Stream Stomp – Meet at the stream near the Activity Center to discover what lives there! Dress to get wet \n2:15pm      Bike Decorating – Stop by the patio behind the Activity Center to decorate your bike before the parade or you can bring your own from home! \n3pm           Bike Parade – Feature your decorated bike in the parade. Meet near the Camp Area 1 shower house and take a trip around the campground. Prizes for top bikes in each age group! \n4-5pm          Tie Dye T-shirts – Make a colorful and unique creation in the grass near Activity Center! T-shirts will be available for purchase. Cash only\, $10 each. Sizes are first come\, first served. *New 2024 t-shirt design \n5-6pm        Teen Club – Parents and teens are invited to learn about our NEW Teen Club. Meet at the Activity Center to meet the staff\, enjoy ice cream sundaes\, and hear our ideas for the club. Plus share some of yours! Teens will play games and win prizes. Meet at the Nature Center. \n6-9pm          LIVE Music: Breezy Rider Band – Bring your chair or golf cart to the beach pavilion to listen to live music and play yard games. \n9-10pm      Tappan Golf Cart Parade – Decorate your golf cart and head to the beach for line up at 8:30pm. Parade will start at 9pm. Look for the program golf cart. \n  \nSunday\, May 26 \n11am-12pm Nature Center Open & Craft for Kids – Visit the Nature Center to discover Ohio wildlife and make a patriotic flag craft. Parents must accompany children. \n1-2pm        Species Spectacular Hike – Meet at the beach parking lot to hike along the Beach Trail. Be prepared for a natural surface trail by wearing hike shoes or sneakers. Parents must accompany children. \n3-4pm        Nature Sunday Funday – Meet on the patio behind the Activity Center for some parachute fun! \n5-6pm          Kids BINGO – Try your luck at BINGO at the Activity Center. Bring a full-size candy bar. \n6-7pm        Adult BINGO – Try your luck at BINGO at the Activity Center. Bring a $2 gift. \n9-11pm      Movie at the Lake – Bring your blankets and camp chairs to the beach to watch a movie on the BIG screen! The movie is rated PG and will start at dusk. You can also watch from your golf cart or car. Please park vehicles towards the back. Pop and chips will be available for purchase for $1 each.

DESCRIPTION:8am-5pm     Ohio Boater Education Course – Ohio law requires this course for anyone born on or after January 1\, 1982 in order to operate any powered watercraft greater than 10 horsepower. Course will be led by MWCD Rangers at TAPPAN LAKE MARINA. Students must attend the entire course\, 8am to 5pm\, and pass a proficiency exam. Pre-registration is required at https://mwcd.ticketleap.com. Course is FREE and space is limited. \n9am-2pm     Knotty Hour Open House – Bring your current crochet\, knit\, embroidery\, or other craft project and enjoy social time! Plus\, learn from others and share patterns. Staff will be on hand to help beginners and share the ideas for this program. Bring your own camp chair for more comfortable seating. Program is sponsored by Pindrop Shop in Uhrichsville\, OH. \n9-11am       Nature Center Open – Explore the Nature Center and learn about upcoming programs. Plus meet Harrison County Soil & Water Conservation District for a fun activity! \n11am-1pm   Earth Day Clean-up – Stop by the Activity Center for gloves and trash bags\, then pick-up map for areas for litter throughout the park & lake! SUMMARY:Ohio Hunter Education Course at Tappan
DESCRIPTION:The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District staff will be this FREE two-day course\, instructor-led course. Participants much attend both days\, for a total of about 12 hours\, in a relaxed classroom environment with hands-on learning. \nLocation: Tappan Lake Park’s Activity Center \nSaturday\, March 2    9am-4pm \nSunday\, March 3     9am-4pm \nWe will offer a lunch break each day. Please bring your own food as there are no nearby restaurant options. Coffee and snacks will be provided. Register by clicking the link below and searching for Hunter Education > Classroom > Deersville. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER\n\nCertified volunteers and MWCD staff will be there to teach the courses. They are specially trained by the ODNR and highly qualified to help you learn. Instructors will cover a range of topics\, from conservation\, safety\, and ethics to the proper handling of shotguns\, handguns\, bowhunting gear\, and more. You should not bring firearms or archery equipment to class – all necessary equipment will be provided. \n\n\nOnce you’ve completed the course work\, you will be given a 100-question test which includes a multiple choice questions. A student must score 75% or higher on the test to pass and obtain certification. Hunter education is a requirement for all first-time license buyers in Ohio\, except those who hunt with an apprentice license.

DESCRIPTION:11am-1pm         Winter Hike & Soup – Explore the hiking trails at Tappan Lake our annual Winter Hike! Stop by the Activity Center to pick up a map with suggested routes to hike on your own or join MWCD staff for a guided group hike along the Deer Trail. Guided hike will leave the Activity Center promptly at 11:15am. Warm up in the Activity Center with soups\, coffee\, and hot chocolate between 11am and 1pm. Registration is strongly suggested to help us have enough food for the crowd. Register and purchase a souvenir soup bowl at https://mwcd.ticketleap.com \nBe prepared for natural surface hiking trails with moderate to steep inclines by wearing hiking shoes/boots\, bringing a bottle of water. DESCRIPTION:Paddle around Tappan Lake to find poker stops and collect poker chips to compete for the best poker hand! Kayaks\, canoes\, and paddleboards welcome.  Participants will be given a map to navigate around the shoreline near the park and marina to visit at least five stops\, then return for the “Show of Hands” at 4pm. Prizes will be awarded for the best and worst poker hands! Grand Prize is a KAYAK!\n\nRent our equipment or bring your own. DESCRIPTION:Tappan Lake Park Program Schedule August 25-27\n  \nFriday\, August 25\n5-8pm – Traveling Program & Craft Kit – Watch for the golf cart traveling through the camp with craft kits! \n  \nSaturday\, August 26\n9am-4pm – Camper Yard Sale – Setup a sale on your campsite! Pick up a registration form at the Registration Office and turn them in by Friday\, 8/25 at 10pm. A list of participating lots will be posted on Saturday morning. \n10am-11am – Breakfast with the Birds – Visit the Nature Center and watch the birds at the birdfeeders! Enjoy breakfast treats\, coffee\, and learn about Ohio’s birds! \n12-1pm – Beehive Craft for Adults – Meet at the Nature Center to make a cute summer decoration! \n2-3pm – Turtle Craft for Kids – Meet at the Nature Center to make a fun craft. \n3-4:30pm – Golf Cart Poker Run – Follow a map and search the campground for hidden stops to make a poker hand. Winners will be randomly selected. Register at the Activity Center. $5 per person.
