DESCRIPTION:Friday\, July 12                 Survival Skills Weekend \n4-6pm         Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to learn about adaptations that help animals survive. \n6-8pm         Traveling Program Golf Cart – Watch for the traveling program golf cart with weekend schedules. \n  \nSaturday\, July 13                      \n9-10am       Nature Hike and Journaling – Meet at the Welcome Center to follow a naturalist on an easy discovery hike. We will also provide supplies to capture the natural world through writing or artistic expression. \n11am-12pm  Shelter Building – Head to Picnic Shelter #2 to turn a tarp into a survival shelter. Shelter from the elements is vital for survival. All children must to be accompanied by an adult. \n1-2pm         Survival Bracelets – Create your own paracord bracelet in the Welcome Center. These bracelets are designed to unravel when an emergency calls for rope. All children must be accompanied by an adult. \n3-4pm         Ohio Bird Sanctuary – We see black vultures and turkey vultures daily but what makes these birds such good scavengers? Join us in the Welcome Center to unlock the mysteries of vultures. \n5-6pm         Campfire Building – Conquer flint and steel to create fire. Meet program staff at the fire ring by the Welcome Center to learn the basics of fire building. \n7-8pm         Campfire Snack: Stuffed Cones – Visit the campfire ring by the Welcome Center to make and taste campfire cones. While supplies last. All children must be accompanied by an adult. \n  \nSunday\, July 14                         \n9-11am       Fishing – Join the program staff at the fishing dock off the beach parking lot. Fishing poles and bait will be provided. All children will need to be supervised by an adult. For ages 15 and below. \n12-1pm       Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to learn about adaptations that help animals survive.

DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, July 3 \n7-9pm          Sunset Kayak Tour – Enjoy a relaxing guided kayak tour of the lake with kayaking tips\, Pleasant Hill Lake History\, and nature facts. Meet your guides in the beach parking lot.  Registration is required at www.MWCD.org/tickets. \n  \nThursday\, July 4               Happy Independence Day! \n8-9am          Birding 101 – Meet in the Welcome Center to use the bird feeding station and learn about bird ID. Bring your smartphone to record bird songs. We will have a few binoculars to loan for the hour. \n10am-12pm   Traveling Program Golf Cart – Watch for the traveling program golf cart with program & park info! \n1-2pm          Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to get a closer look at a box turtle and learn about Ohio reptiles. \n3-4pm          Patriotic Macrame Craft for Adults – We will be using red\, white\, and blue yarn with a branch from Pleasant Hill woods to create a vibrant and unique wall hanging. This activity is suitable for those able to tie specific types of knots and will take place in the Welcome Center. \n  \nFriday\, July 5 \n11am-12pm   Compass Challenge – Meet on the Welcome Center deck to learn how to use a compass. Then test your new skills on an orienteering course. Participation awards will be provided. For ages 10 and up. \n1-3pm          Archery 101– Test your bow and arrow skills behind Shelter #2. Archery equipment and set up for ages 8 and up. Last group will begin at 1:30pm. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Waivers required. \n4-5pm          Creek Walk – Explore the streams that meander through Area C and D. Water shoes or boots are required. We will take a closer look at what is living in our waterways. Meet the naturalist at the tetherball before you enter Area C. All children need to be supervised by an adult. \n6-8pm          Traveling Program Golf Cart – Watch for the traveling program golf cart with program & park info! \n8-9pm          Glowsticks and Fireflies – Use up a little extra energy and experience bioluminescence at the playground by Area G. We will be handing out glowsticks (while supplies last) and attempting to catch and release fireflies. All children need to be supervised by an adult. \n  \nSaturday\, July 6  \n9-11am         Fishing for Kids – Join the program staff at the fishing dock passed the swim beach. Fishing poles and bait will be provided. For ages 8-15. All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. \n12-1pm         Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to get a closer look at a box turtle and learn about Ohio reptiles. \n1-2pm           T-shirt Tie Dye – Make your own Pleasant Hill souvenir. Shirts are $10 each\, cash only. We will then provide instructions and supplies to create a vivid tie dye design. Meet at the Welcome Center deck. \n4-5pm          Hot Dog Eating Contest – Be a part of the first annual Pleasant Hill Lake Hot Dog Eating Contest! For ages 18 and up only. First prize is a Blackstone Grill! Contest will take place at the top of beach hill. Registration required at www.MWCD.org/tickets by July 5 at 5pm. \n6-9pm          LIVE Music: Callunaw Rednecks Band – Sit back and relax while taking in a live musical performance on the stage at the top of beach hill.

Stop by the Welcome Center to meet Chief PJ Brockmeier\, say hello\, ask a question\, or make a suggestion\, plus enjoy coffee and donuts (while supplies last). \n10-11am       Nature Center Open – Stop by the Nature Center to learn about Bald Eagles and Osprey. \n12-1pm        Owl Pellets – Owls swallow their food whole and rely on their gizzard to separate out what cannot be digested. We will dig through replica owl pellets to discover what’s inside. Children need to be supervised by an adult. \n2-3pm          Birding Wagon Ride – Take a tour around Pleasant Hill Lake Park to see the Osprey nest platforms and the other birds of the lake. Space is limited\, registration is required for this free event at https://mwcd.ticketleap.com \n4-5pm          Paper Plate Bird Craft – Did you know a paper plate can be transformed into an owl\, robin\, seagull\, and many other birds? If you bring your creativity to the Welcome Center\, we will have the art supplies ready. Children need to be supervised by an adult. \n6-7pm          Osprey Nest Listen and Learn – Take a seat in the Welcome Center to learn more about the Osprey nesting platforms. The brief presentation will be followed by a short walk to get a closer look at the Osprey Nesting Platforms. \n8-9pm          Campfire & Karaoke – If you love singing along to the Eagles\, the Black Crowes\, or The O’Jays\, come on over to the campfire ring by the Welcome Center. We will provide the blazing fire and karaoke machine. You are encouraged to bring your phone loaded with the music from bands named after birds and a comfortable camp chair.

Come see a dinosaur and Dino Handler\, play games\, learn facts\, and have a photo opportunity. \n12-1pm         Dinosaur Tracks for Kids – Roll up your sleeves for this messy creation. Meet at the Welcome Center Deck to put your own dinosaur tracks in plaster. Children must be assisted by a parent. \n1-2pm          Dino Bone Craft for Kids – Start at the Welcome Center to pick up a map that will lead you to the lost dinosaur bones. Bring all your found dinosaur bones back to the Welcome Center to create a one-of-a-kind dinosaur skeleton. \n3-4pm          Dinosaur Dig – Collect your sand shovel\, rake\, and sieve and come on down to the beach to search for hidden toy dinosaurs. Keep your new Jurassic friends or return them to the MWCD staff on duty to be used again in the future. \n5-6pm          Family BINGO – Gather together for a few fun rounds of BINGO. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Single players are welcome. Meet at the Welcome Center. Bring a wrapped gift valued at $2 to be used as a prize. \n6-9pm          LIVE Music: SB Music – Enjoy live music at the Shelter in Area G. Kick back and relax\, bring your own snacks and camp chair for maximum comfort. \n6-9pm          Yard Games – Take in the live music in Area G while playing cornhole\, ladder golf\, and ball toss yard games.
