Footwear with good treads that can get wet and adult supervision is required. The journey begins at the stream located before Area C. \n2-3pm        Planter Craft for Adults – Decorate a ceramic pot on the Welcome Center deck. Soil and seeds will also be provided. \n4-8pm       Summer Kickoff Market in the Park – Enjoy a variety of vendors\, food trucks\, music\, and activities at the top of beach hill. Family-friendly attractions include live animals with Traveling Acres and inflatables\, plus Chuy’s Taco Truck and Cardinal Creek Kettle Corn!

SUMMARY:Pleasant Hill Ohio Boating Education Course
DESCRIPTION:All newer boaters must pass an Ohio Boating Education Course (OBEC) before getting behind the wheel. Boat operators born on or after January 1\, 1982\, must complete a boating course or pass a proficiency exam. Classroom boating courses offer hands-on instruction with audio and visual materials and give boaters a chance to ask questions directly to an instructor. Topics include knowing your boat\, operating safely\, legal requirements\, and boating emergencies. The Course will be team-taught by certified Instructors along with MWCD and ODNR officers\, which include a minimum of eight hours of teaching and a written exam. \n  \nREGISTER NOW

Registration required at www.MWCD.org/tickets. \n  \nSaturday\, September 21                  Apple Festival \nAll Day          Jellybean Count – Check out the jar of Jellybeans in the Welcome Center. Try to guess exactly how many jellybeans are in the jar.  The closest answer wins the two pounds of candy. Winner will be announced at the evening’s band. \n9-10am         Camper Appreciation Pancake Breakfast – Enjoy pancakes and apple cider at the Welcome Center as the summer comes to an end! The suggested donation is $5 per person. While supplies last. \n11am-12pm   Apple Festival Golf Cart Scavenger Hunt – Search the park for hidden apples and be entered to win a basket full of apple goodies! $5 per hand at the Welcome Center\, cash only. \n12:30pm       Homemade Apple Pie Competition Entry – Drop-off your homemade apple pie to the Welcome Center. \n1-2pm             Apple Pie Voting – Vote on the best-looking pie at the Welcome Center! Winners will be announced at the evening’s band. \n12-2pm         Apple Archery for Kids – Do you think you are as good as the Swiss archer William Tell? Test your bow and arrow skills at Picnic Shelter #2. Archery equipment and set up for youth. Drop by any time before 1:30 pm. All children need to be accompanied by an adult. \n4-7pm          APPLE FESTIVAL – Join the festivities at the top of beach hill! \n\nLIVE Music: Bluegrass Band – Relax and listen to some of the best Bluegrass musicians around. Enjoy a combination of Northwest Territory Bluegrass Band and the Allegheny Drifters. Bring a chair or blanket!\nWildflowers and Welds Mobile Beverage Truck – Enjoy coffee\, tea\, lemonade\, and refreshers at the top of beach hill!\nApple Nachos – Make a sweet treat with apple slices and top with caramel\, chocolate\, sprinkles\, and whipped cream\, while supplies last. Look for the MWCD canopy at the top of beach hill!\nGames for All Ages – Play gaga ball\, get your face painted\, participate in an apple rolling contest\, and jump around in the bounce house. Plus\, stop by the Ashland Soil and Water Conservation District’s table.\nMeet Johnny Appleseed from 6 to 7pm – Take a photo with Johnny and learn about his life. Don’t forget to wish him a Happy 250th birthday! Meet at the MWCD canopy.

We will be turning these colorful leaves into suncatchers. Kids with an adult may join us in the Welcome Center. \n2-3pm          Compass Challenge – Meet the staff on the Welcome Center deck to receive the coordinates to a hidden compass course.  This activity is great for compass experts and first-timers.   \n4-5pm          Wall Art Craft for Adults – Make a beautiful tree out of a canvas square\, paint\, glue\, and buttons that will be perfect for hanging on your wall. Join us in the Welcome Center for an artistic hour of fun. \n  \nMonday\, September 16 \n7-9pm          Sunset Kayak – Enjoy a relaxing guided kayak tour of Pleasant Hill Lake Park.  We will cover kayaking basics\, share nature facts\, learn the history of the lake\, and enjoy the Full Harvest Moon.  Registration is required\, www.mwcd.org/tickets

DESCRIPTION:Friday\, August 30                      \n4-5pm          Nature Center Open – Learn about black vultures in the Nature Room at the Welcome Center. \n5-7pm          Traveling Program Golf Cart – Watch for the traveling program golf cart with schedules. \n8-9pm          Campfire Karaoke – If you love to sing\, come on over to the campfire ring by the Welcome Center. We will provide a campfire and karaoke machine. Bring your phone loaded with your favorite family-friendly music and a comfortable camp chair. \n  \nSaturday\, August 31 \n9-11am         Fishing – Kids\, ages 15 and under\, are invited to join staff at the fishing dock (far end of the beach parking lot). Fishing poles and bait will be provided. All children must be accompanied by an adult. \n12pm           2nd Annual Camper Lead Cornhole Tournament – Sign-up starts at noon on the basketball court by the Welcome Center. Bring your own cornhole bags. The tournament begins at 1pm. \n12-1pm         Leaf Printing Craft for Kids – Did you know you could turn a leaf into a work of art? Join in the messy fun at the Welcome Center. Adult assistance is needed. \n1:30-2:30pm Root Beer Floats – Enjoy a cool and refreshing treat this weekend. The first guests will receive a reusable color-changing cup. Join us on the Welcome Center deck while supplies last. \n3-4pm          LIVE Birds with Ohio Bird Sanctuary – Find a seat in the Welcome Center for a live bird program. Ohio Bird Sanctuary will be bringing two of its animal ambassadors to educate us on their species. All children must be accompanied by an adult. \n5-6pm          Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to learn about black vultures. \n6:30-9:30pm  LIVE Music by Townline 26 – Join this talented 5-member band at the Picnic Shelter by Area G for country\, rock\, and bluegrass hits. Bring snacks and a comfy seat to relax and enjoy the evening. \n  \nSunday\, Sept 1                  \n10-11am       Stream Stomp – Explore the streams to discover what is lurking within! Meet the naturalist by tether ball near Area C\, wearing water shoes or boots. \n12-1pm         Star Streamer Craft for Kids – Make patriotic star streamers that are perfect to decorate your bike\, golf cart\, or camper. Grab an adult and come to the Welcome Center. \n2:30-3:30pm  Archery 101 – Practice your bow and arrow skills behind Picnic Shelter #2. Archery equipment is set up for youth. Come any time before 3pm. All children must to be accompanied by an adult. \n4-5pm          Golf Cart Parade – Decorate your golf cart and load up your family. Line up in the Welcome Center parking lot and drive the outside loops of Areas C\, D\, A\, B\, and G. \n5:30-6:30pm Family BINGO – Bring a wrapped $2 prize and meet at the Welcome Center to win! \n6:30-7:30pm  Seashell Wine Bottle Adult Craft – We will be creating the perfect lake life decoration. This activity will be in the Welcome Center Deck and is limited to 12 participants. \n9-11pm         Movie at the Lake – Bring your blanket or camp chairs to the beach to watch a movie on the BIG screen!  This movie is rated PG-13 and will start at dusk.

How about painting a flowerpot with your favorite summer memories? Supplies will be provided in the Welcome Center. This activity is for 16+. \n2-3pm        Nature Center Open – Visit the Nature Room in the Welcome Center to learn about the Fish of Pleasant Hill. \n4-5pm         Foil Fish Craft for Kids – We will be cutting and shaping cardstock and foil into our favorite fish at Pleasant Hill Lake.  Supplies and instruction will be provided in the Welcome Center. \n6-7pm        Nature Scavenger Hunt – Meet at the Welcome Center at 1 pm to follow a program staff member on an adventure.  We will check off items from our list as we find them in nature. \n7-8pm        Fishing Game – Would you like more practice casting and reeling in fish? If yes\, gather on the Welcome Center Deck for a fun fishing experience without touching a real fish. \n9-10pm      Campfire and Songs – Head to the fire ring by the Welcome Center for an end-of-the-summer campfire and songs.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Waivers required. \n4-5pm               Country Line Dancing – Enjoy the music and kick up your heels. Come for 10 minutes or 2 hours. Meet in the Welcome Center for country line dancing! \n5-6pm               Chips and Salsa Bar – Stop by the Welcome Center deck for a variety of salsas. See if you can stand the spiciest! While supplies last. \n7-8pm                   Hayride – Free hayride around Pleasant Hill Lake Park to take in the end-of-summer views. Two-time slots are available. The wagon will leave from the Welcome Center parking lot at 7 and 7:30 pm.
