SUMMARY:Ohio Boating Education Course at Atwood Lake Park
DESCRIPTION:If you were born on or after January 1\, 1982 Ohio law requires that you complete an approved boating safety education course to operate any powered watercraft greater than 10 horsepower. You can meet Ohio’s Boating Education requirement by attending this approved boating education course and passing a proficiency exam. \nThis course will include hands-on instruction with audio and visual materials and give boaters a chance to ask questions directly to an instructor. Topics include know your boat\, operating safely\, legal requirements and boating emergencies. The course will be taught by OBEC certified MWCD Rangers\, and includes a minimum of eight hours of teaching and a written exam. Students must attend the entire course and pass a proficiency exam. DESCRIPTION:Dispose of your unneeded tires at our Tire Take Back event! This event is organized by the MWCD Conservation Department to help reduce the amount of unwanted tires that could end up as litter in and around the lake region. Follow the event signs to the parking lot across from the Activity Center. \nPlease follow these guidelines when transporting tires. \n\nNo more than 10 tires per drop-off. Federal law prohibits more than 10 tires per vehicle.\nTires on rims will be accepted\, but will not be removed from the rim and will be donated as is.\nMust be free of debris.\nLimited to the first 2\,500 tires. Once the trailer is full\, we will not accept any more.\n\nEvent is sponsored by Kraton Chemical\, Encino Energy\, and the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Foundation. \n

DESCRIPTION:Race Brimstone is hosting a 5 Lakes Ultra Races is final race in the Lakes Series consisting of 50k\, 100k\, 100 mile and 200 mile options. THE 50k\, 100k AND 100 MILE ARE ALL POINT TO POINT!!! Both the 100 and 200 mile distances will start at Fort Laurens Museum in Bolivar and head south following the Buckeye trail and branching off to 5 of Ohio’s freshwater lakes. At Atwood Lake Park 100K runners will start and follow the same route heading south\, followed by 50K runners joining at Tappan Lake Park. \nThe first three races of the series each take place on trails around one of Ohio’s beautiful lakes\, mainly on Muskingum Watershed Conservatory District property. All runners who complete all 4 races in the series will not only receive their medal/buckle at the finish of the 5 Lakes Ultra but also 2 additional medals in the shape of the remaining 2 lakes in the chain of 5 Lakes. These will link together with the previous race’s medals to make the chain of lakes! While supplies last. \nSaturday\, July 22 \n10am-1pm  Traveling Santa – Watch for the MWCD golf cart with Santa traveling through the campground! Bring your own camera for photos! \n2-3pm        Christmas Tree Craft for Kids – Meet at the Activity Center Shelter to make a fingerprint Christmas tree! \n4-5pm        Messy Play with Snow – Make some fluffy snow at the Activity Center Shelter. Dress for a mess! \n6-7pm        Christmas Craft for Adults – Paint a Christmas craft at the Activity Center Shelter! You may even win a prize!! \nSaturday\, July 15\n10-11am – Handprint Craft for Kids – Meet at the Activity Center Shelter to make messy/fun handprint art! \n11am-1pm – Guided Nature Hike – Discover the Woodland Trail! Meet at the Welcome Center parking lot. Be prepared for a 2-mile walk with sneakers or hiking boots. \n2-4pm – Chalk Drawing & Yard Games – Grab a friend and challenge them to a game of cornhole\, KanJam\, or Spikeball! Meet at the sport court area near the Activity Center. \nSunday\, July 16\n9-10am – Non-denominational Church Service & Kids JAM – Meet at the small amphitheater\, weather permitting. \n
