2012 Village of Roseville Levee Accreditation Project
General
Problem Description
The Village of Roseville requested financial assistance to complete requirements by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to acquire its levee accreditation.
Solution Description
FEMA is requiring engineering studies and analyses on levee erosion and stability, elevations demonstrating the levee can meet freeboard requirements, and an updated operation and maintenance manual.
USACE is requiring the removal of encroachments, inspection pipes and culverts, Meggar testing on pump motors and critical cables, engineering and updating of control panels, and the installation of a backup generator.
Grant Funding
Accreditation of the levee will ensure 125 homes and 5 businesses remain out of the flood zone and thus not subject to higher rates, flood insurance, and additional liability. Accreditation also guarantees USACE will continue to perform yearly inspections on the levy.
Total Project Cost: $189,833
Requested Grant: $125,000
