2012 MetroParks Serving Summit County Silver Creek North Land Acquisition
General

Problem Description

Metro Parks Serving Summit County is requesting financial assistance to purchase and permanently protect approximately 115 acres in the City of Norton. The property acquisition would help protect nearly two miles of high quality headwater habitat stream and 15 acres of Category 3 wetlands.

The property is in danger of being developed and converted to non-conservation use through residential or commercial development.

Solution Description

The acquisition of this property would ensure preservation of a uniquely pristine tract that is threatened by development. The park will provide passive recreational opportunities to the residents of Summit, Medina, and Wayne Counties, and could be used for future outdoor education programs.
