2010 Brewster Levee Sanitary Sewer Improvements
General
Problem Description
Repairs to sewer lines running through Brewster Levee are necessary in order to ensure the structural integrity of the levy.
Relining the sewer lines addresses a structural deficiency in the levee. If not repaired, Brewster Levee will not meet eligibility requirements to be certified by the US Army Corps of Engineers in accordance with Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) levee certification standards. Levee decertification will result in FEMA remapping the protected areas as if the levee were not present. This would adversely affect National Flood Insurance Program premiums for those homes and businesses protected by the levee.
Solution Description
The project consists of relining three sewer lines which pass through Brewster Levee for the purpose of ensuring the structural integrity of the levee during periods of flooding.
