November 23, 2020

Members of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) Board of Directors approved the appointment of Karl Gebhardt during a recent meeting to the volunteer Development Advisory Committee (DAC). The 20-member DAC serves in an advisory capacity to the MWCD Board of Directors and staff.

Gebhardt, a resident of Westerville in Delaware County, retired in 2018 as the Executive Director from the Ohio Lake Erie Commission. He is an accomplished leader with extensive senior level private and public-sector experience. He is recognized by numerous trade associations, government leaders and university-level board and advisory teams as an expert in the field of natural resources. His career also included the position of Deputy Director of Water Resources for the Ohio EPA, and Deputy Director of Ohio Department of Natural Resources, among others.

Gebhardt joins the committee as two members, Joe Gies of Shelby, and James Schoch of New Philadelphia, have completed their second three-year terms.

“On behalf of the MWCD, I would like to thank outgoing members Joe Gies, and James Schoch for their service,” said Craig Butler, Executive Director for MWCD. “The DAC is comprised of talented, and highly esteemed individuals from around the District. I look forward to working with Mr. Gebhardt to further enhance MWCD.”

The DAC was created by the MWCD Board of Directors in 1992 as an organized public support system for responsive and effective economic development, conservation and recreation programs. DAC members are appointed by the Board of Directors and serve staggered three-year terms, meeting quarterly.
