July Fireworks Shows Postponed at MWCD Lake Parks
June 3, 2020
The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) prioritizes the safety and health of our community: the visitors we serve, our employees, volunteers, and neighbors. Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are committed to aligning operations with the orders/ recommendations of national, state, and local public health experts as we navigate these uncharted waters.
We are pleased to have gone from a near complete closure of all facilities and amenities, to a slow re-opening to park and marina guests. Although we are extremely grateful to be where we are today, it is with regret that we announce that in an effort to keep our community safe, and comply with orders issued amid the pandemic that we cancel Independence Day Fireworks scheduled at Atwood, Charles Mill, Seneca, and Tappan Lake Parks. In addition to the fireworks display planned during Christmas in July at Pleasant Hill Lake Park. In the interest of safety and to comply with the recently extended Ohio Department of Health Orders limiting gatherings to less than 10 people, we simply cannot move forward with these events. Please know that this decision was not made lightly.
We are hopeful however, that as the summer continues we will see improvement, and loosening of restrictions. It is our desire to reschedule all firework displays later this summer if at all feasible to provide our guests with a much needed reprieve from all things cancelled, and offer this staple in summertime traditions. If we are able to reschedule, we will post this information as soon as it is available. In the interim, please come and enjoy our lakes, parks, and trails.
We appreciate the patience from all of our patrons, and more than anything, wish you a safe and healthy summer.
