Part of the MWCD Main Office operations has recently moved into a permanent home after leasing space for the past three years. Engineering, Field Services and part of Recreation operations have moved into a 2-year-old facility located at 2050 Reiser Ave SE in New Philadelphia. This location is referred to as Main Office Annex. MWCD took title on the building and the 5.2-acre tract and then completed renovations in October. Renovations included converting the unfinished second floor space into offices and expanding the parking lot. Useable floor space is now over 11,000 square feet

This location accommodates not only offices for personnel but also has a large garage necessary to service the MWCD fleet of vehicles and construction equipment. The building also has a large conference area which will be used to host future Board of Directors’ meetings which are open to the public. Board meeting dates, locations and minutes are found on the MWCD website at www.mwcd.org.

Operations which remain at the Main Office at 1319 Third Street NW in New Philadelphia include Recreation Leases, Docking, Conservation and Administration which encompasses Finance, Human Resources, Safety, and Information Services and Technology. To reach personnel in both the Main Office and Main Office Annex, customers can continue to use the single main office phone number at 330-343-6647 or toll free at 877-363-8500.

About the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District

The MWCD, a political subdivision of the state, was organized in 1933 to develop and implement a plan to reduce flooding and conserve water for beneficial public uses in the Muskingum River Watershed, the largest wholly contained watershed in the State of Ohio. The District includes 18 counties and covers 8,000 square miles which is 20% of the state. The 16 reservoirs and dams in the District have been credited for saving an estimated $5.6 billion of potential property damage from flooding, per the federal government. In addition, over 5.5 million customers a year use the District’s recreational facilities throughout Eastern Ohio which bolsters the region’s economy and augments the quality of life for Ohio’s residents.

The mission of Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District is, “Responsible stewards dedicated to providing the benefits of flood reduction, conservation and recreation in the Muskingum River Watershed.”
