Santa, fireworks headline Pleasant Hill Park Christmas in July on July 21
July 12, 2012
It doesn’t get any better than an early appearance by Santa Claus and a giant fireworks show.
But that’s exactly what is planned July 21 (Saturday) at Pleasant Hill Lake Park, where the park will take on a holiday-like atmosphere over the weekend during its annual “Christmas In July” celebration.
A full weekend of activities is capped off July 21 with the park’s annual giant fireworks show at dark.
Events begin July 20 (Friday) with family bingo at 7 p.m., followed by a hayride at 8 p.m. (weather permitting, and tickets are 50 cents apiece). The park’s camping lot decoration contest begins at 8 p.m. with voting to be conducted until 5 p.m. on July 21 (ballots available at the park activity center).
On July 21 (Saturday), a kids’ Christmas craft will be held at 10 a.m., followed by an adult cornhole event at 11 a.m. A craft for teens and adults is scheduled at 2 p.m. The action also moves to the beach at 2 p.m. with inflatable activities all afternoon, music beginning at 3 p.m., and then Santa arrives at the beach at 5 p.m. Prizes from the lot decorating contest will be announced at 6 p.m. and glow items will be sold beginning at 8 p.m.
Then, at dark, the park will host its fireworks show.
Camping is available all weekend and the park’s swimming beach is open seven days a week.
