Tappan Lake Park opens May 27 for 2011 summer season

Tappan Lake Park will get summer under way over the Memorial Day holiday weekend (May 27-30).
The park and swimming beach officially open for the summer season Friday, May 27, and plenty of activities are planned for adults and children alike, including the opening of the park’s weekly and weekend events schedule. Events scheduled on Saturday (May 28) include a disc jockey and a campers’ fishing tournament, while activities planned on Sunday (May 29) are a bike parade and plenty of music.
Events also are planned all summer long through the Labor Day holiday weekend.
Visitors planning to spend a day at the beach or enjoying the other activities available inside the park are admitted for a cost of $5 per vehicle. Season passes are available for $50 per vehicle. The park is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and the beach is open seven days a week from noon to 8 p.m.
Overnight camping also is available at a cost of $32.25 per night for a full hookup (includes electric, water and sewer service), $27 and $25 for sites with electric, and $25 per night for a primitive site. Discounts apply for stays of at least 30 days. Reservations can be made by calling the park at (740) 922-3649 or by sending an e-mail to for availability.
The park also features two-bedroom family vacation cabins that sleep up to six people and include air conditioning, along with salt-box style camper cabins. Overnight boat docking can be purchased by guests of the park.
The park also offers rentals of its picnic shelters for $40 each.
