Boating education classes planned in March, May
February 25, 2010
Two day-long Ohio Boating Education Courses have been scheduled at Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) lakes in upcoming weeks.
The course is required for anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1982, who plans to operate a boat with more than 10 horsepower, but provides excellent information and instruction for boaters of all ages, said MWCD Lake Ranger Shawn Tharp.
Classes are planned from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the following dates and at the following locations:
March 27 – Atwood Lake Park Activity Center, 4956 Shop Rd. NE, New Cumberland area.
May 15 – Tappan Lake Park, 84000 Mallarnee Rd., Cadiz.
The Ohio Boating Education Course covers required equipment, state and federal boating laws, and rules of the water, Tharp said. A $5 pre-paid fee covers the cost of materials and certification.
To register or for additional details, contact Tharp by calling (330) 343-6780 Ext. 2317 or via e-mail at email@example.com.
Successful completion of the course may qualify boaters for a discount on boat owner’s insurance. Boaters who pass the course will receive a wallet card to show as valid proof of course completion.« Back to News
