The reservoir system in this region includes Dillon, Senecaville and Wills Creek. Flood reduction and protection measures safeguard the communities of Dresden, Cambridge, Zanesville, Coshocton, McConnelsville and Marietta from constant and elevated damaging flooding. Commercial and industrial ventures that bolster the region’s workforce options can construct and develop in competitive locations, with the ability to ship goods and services on reliable schedules. Low-lying residential areas in the region are protected from potential damaging and consistent flooding. The Lower Muskingum Region’s agricultural base is protected from losses in crops and available land space for planting, grazing and other production. Flood protection measures in the entire MWCD system reduce potential downstream damage in Coshocton, Muskingum, Morgan, Noble and Washington counties. Controls on the Muskingum River reduce potential impact of flooding where it meets the Ohio River at Marietta. The city of Cambridge has a water supply agreement with the MWCD. |
