MWCD to host park master plan open house meetings Aug. 9, 10

July 25, 2013

The master plan process for the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District's (MWCD) park and recreation facilities is nearly complete.

And the MWCD and its consultant that was hired to prepare the master plan, Woolpert, will host several open house meetings on Aug. 9 and 10 to present the plan to MWCD recreational users and guests. MWCD and Woolpert staff members will be available to present the plan, hear comments and answer questions.

Sessions are planned on the following dates and times at these locations:

Aug. 9 (Friday) - 6 to 8 p.m. - Atwood Lake Park activity center and Tappan Lake Park activity center

Aug. 10 (Saturday) - 9 to 11 a.m. - Seneca Lake Park picnic point and Charles Mill Lake Park activity center

Aug. 10 - (Saturday) - 1 to 3 p.m. - Piedmont Lake Marina restaurant and Pleasant Hill Lake Park activity center

The MWCD began a planning phase in 2012 to review its facilities, programs and organizational structure in its recreation operations in order to prepare for the future. Woolpert is a planning and development firm with its headquarters in Ohio and operations throughout the United States.

Woolpert held a series of meetings at all park locations and conducted a survey last year to receive input from MWCD guests, customers and visitors, and has developed a two-level master plan. The first level will structure broad overarching district programs and services, facilities and design standards as well as provide guidelines for management, operations and policies. The second will include conceptual plans for each selected park facility or area to bring facilities to the desired level of function and optimal operation for current and future needs.

Updates also have been posted on the MWCD's website at /planning.
