Fireworks shows June 30 at Tappan Park, July 4 at Atwood Park, and July 7 at Charles Mill and Seneca parks

June 22, 2012

The Fourth of July holiday celebration is quickly approaching.

And you know what that means – giant fireworks shows at your favorite Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) lake park! There is nothing quite like a fireworks show at the lake and the MWCD lake parks have several shows planned throughout the holiday time period.

Here is the schedule for fireworks at the MWCD lake parks during the holiday celebrations:

Tappan Lake Park – Saturday, June 30

Atwood Lake Park – Wednesday, July 4

Charles Mill Lake Park – Saturday, July 7

Seneca Lake Park – Saturday, July 7

And for a treat a little later in the summer, Pleasant Hill Lake Park will host its annual fireworks show on Saturday, July 21, during its Christmas in July events.

For more details, contact the park of your choice or visit www.mwcd.org online for maps, schedules and more. The five MWCD lake parks offer a variety of ways to enjoy outdoor recreation, including campgrounds, hiking trails, swimming beaches, ballfields and courts, and planned daily and weekly activities and special events.

The MWCD, a political subdivision of the state, was organized in 1933 to develop and implement a plan to reduce flooding and conserve water for beneficial public uses in the Muskingum River Watershed, the largest wholly contained watershed in Ohio. Since their construction, the 16 reservoirs and dams in the MWCD region have been credited for saving nearly $10 billion worth of potential property damage from flooding, according to

the federal government, as well as providing popular recreational opportunities that bolster the region’s economy. A significant portion of the reservoirs are managed by the MWCD and the dams are managed for flood-risk management by the federal U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).

For more information about the MWCD, visit www.mwcd.org and follow the MWCD on Facebook and Twitter.
