Fireworks, Santa take center stage at Pleasant Hill Lake Park

July 13, 2010

It doesn’t get any better than an early appearance by Santa Claus and a giant fireworks show.

But that’s exactly what is planned this Saturday (July 17) at Pleasant Hill Lake Park, where the park will take on a holiday-like atmosphere over the weekend during its annual “Christmas In July” celebration.

A full weekend of activities is capped off Saturday night with the park’s annual giant fireworks show at dark.

Events begin Friday (July 16) with inflatable games open at 5:30 p.m. (fee required) at the park activity center, while a hay ride (50 cents per ticket) is scheduled at 8 p.m. A kids’ coloring contest is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. and a family bingo event follows at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday (July 17), crafts for children (11 a.m.) and adults (1 p.m.) will start the day, with the inflatable games opening at the beach at 1:30 p.m. The action stays at the beach all afternoon with music beginning at 3 p.m. and plenty of beach games.

Santa Claus will kick off the evening when he arrives at the park’s beach at 5 p.m., and music will continue the remainder of the night until the fireworks show.

Camping is available all weekend and the park’s swimming beach is open seven days a week.
