Atwood Lodge featured on WKSU Radio
Atwood Lodge has been a fixture in the lake community located in portions of Carroll and Tuscarawas counties for 45 years.
But its future beyond this fall is not certain. Earlier this year, the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) Board of Directors approved a plan to close the 104-room hotel and meeting center in October. Mounting financial losses over the past several years, including more than $1 million in 2009 alone, factored prominently in the Board's decision. The MWCD has owned the lodge since it opened in 1965.
WKSU reporter Amanda Rabinowitz visited the lodge recently and talked with several officials and others about its past, present and potential for the future. You can listen to her report here.
