Applicants Sought for Open Seat on MWCD Board of Directors

David E. Brightbill of Lower Salem in Washington County will complete his second full term on the Board this summer and is not eligible for appointment to another term.

The five-member Board is appointed by the MWCD Conservancy Court, which is comprised of one common pleas court judge from each of the 18 counties in the Conservancy District region. Board members who serve staggered five-year terms and are limited to two full terms of service on the Board meet monthly to handle the business activity of the MWCD.

Interested applicants should obtain an application from the Tuscarawas County Clerk of Courts office and submit it to that office by July 5, 2007. According to law, members of the Board of Directors must be residents of different counties and three directors must reside within the territorial limits of the Conservancy District.

To obtain an application and position description, contact Rockne Clarke, Tuscarawas County Clerk of Courts, P.O. Box 628, 125 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, OH 44663. Applicants also are permitted to provide additional information, including a resume and letters of reference, as part of the application materials.

Other members of the MWCD Board of Directors are Harry Horstman of Scio in Harrison County, Steve Kokovich of New Concord in Muskingum County, David Parham of Dellroy in Carroll County and Thomas L. Tribbie of Cambridge in Guernsey County.

A political subdivision of the State of Ohio, the MWCD was organized in 1933 to provide flood reduction and water conservation benefits in the Muskingum River Watershed. The MWCD manages more than 54,000 acres of water and land space including 10 lakes and a total of 14 reservoirs - dedicated to public use.
