Shoreline Program
As they age, the permanent impoundments of water in the MWCD reservoir system suffer from the effects of shoreline erosion. The constant battle to protect flood reduction benefits and water quality is important to the overall health of the reservoir system, and can be costly.
Managing the erosion around the reservoirs can help maintain maximum flood storage capacity and protect the quality of the water throughout the system. In the crucial stream areas, erosion controls can help minimize and manage the sediment loads that travel into the permanent impoundments of water behind the dams
